I take it back...I DO have a holiday wish list
Artwork. Specifically, I came up with a punny name for my ArtFire shop - Dragon Feats (draggin' feet...with handmade socks...shut up, I think it's funny) - and I want an image I can use for the banner and any business cards I might make up. Specifically, I want a goofy/cartoony green dragon, wearing a knit beanie cap and socks (one claw poking out of one sock like a big toe). I want him on the left, with maybe a rocky plain and sky to the right, so I can put "Dragon Feats - Hand Knit Socks, Slippers, Hats, and More" on the right part of the banner. The banner is 760x100, so I would crop the image down to just the feet and words for the banner, then use the head for the shop icon, and the whole image on business cards.

Extremely quick and dirty images behind the cut. )

    So, any takers? :D

I just wanted to declare that Dragon Age Origins has eaten my soul.

And Alister is excellent fun to get into bed.

    That is all.

    About that ArtFire thing
They want shop policies and a bio and stuff. -__- Y'all want to help me come up with those things, right? I strongly suspect you guys are better at bullshit know me better than I know myself.

Not good at this whole "business" thing, no...

Edit: If anyone can come up with a so-terribly-clever shop name, I'll happily create an account other than DragovianKnight over there.

Wii Fit yoga less than a week after abdominal surgery?

    STUPID. STUPID. STUPID. *headdesk*

    I blame the narcotics.

My brain (clearly still on drugs): But it's yoga! No strength-exercises, no jackknifes, no pushups, no aerobic jumping around, it'll be fine!

    Me: Er.

My brain (yep, still on drugs): Besides, you KNOW the thing is going to nag you even more if you go another day without doing anything with it.

    Me: ...dammit.

    *much fail later*

Learn from my stupidity, young grasshoppers. *hobbling toward the hydrocodone bottle*

must try to catch up with comments later? Crazy week, writing deadline, & two Christmas parties in different cities coming up this weekend, followed by I suspect a loooot of crash and burn sleep...

    Against all odds
Despite the Pahrump-a-Pum-Pum festival being a HUGE CLUSTERFUCK that NOBODY KNEW ABOUT which was hidden behind a rinky-dink carnival with all of SIX RIDES, the final tally is that I sold $35 worth of hats and can now justify one of the three yarn orders I placed over the past three weeks. \o/

I am kind of considering an ArtFire shop for next year. I mean, I'm going to knit anyway; might as well clear out some of the finished objects and feed the yarn addiction.*

*Unlike most knitters, I can't use the abbreviation FO, because I was a soaper first, and FO will always and forever mean fragrance oil to me.

Meg is Alive and Well and Living in Parmelia
Yeah, we've moved. Almost two weeks ago, in fact (first Thursday in December was the move in date); all over save the unpacking now. Himself seems to have most of the networking problems sorted out (for a while there we had two out of three of internet, working wireless network, and working gateway) so while I don't yet have a desk (it's on the list of furniture to purchase at some stage) I'm able to turn a corner of the dining table into my computer space.

The new place has a lot of good features about it, but one of the negative ones is there's approximately one-third the storage space of the old place. On the positive side, it has a bedroom more than the old place, so we've turned the final bedroom into a storeroom. It's also holding my chest of drawers, since the bedroom I've chosen turns out to be just large enough to hold my bed (queen size) and that's about it. The main bedroom of the house has been turned into Himself's den, so he's in another of the secondary bedrooms for sleeping. The secondary bedrooms all pretty much face east, so I get a nice early wake-up in the morning (as you'll probably have figured out by the posting time of this update).

At present we're still learning what's available where (neither of us have lived down in the extreme south of Perth before - Himself was based in the western suburbs, I'm from the south-eastern corridor) and sort of finding our feet. Our local shopping centre is reasonably comprehensive - two major supermarkets, two discount/seconds/reject shops (no regular stock listing, but lots of weird and wonderful variety, all of it cheap), a greengrocer and a butcher, plus a bookstore which immediately won my approval by having a range of merchandise including one of the Twilight/Buffy crossover t-shirts ("Then Buffy staked Edward. The end."), along with a chemist, a discount shoe shop, and a pawnbroker. This last is confirmation we're in social security recipient heartland. The nearest regional centre (Rockingham) has a larger mall which I visited yesterday to find out what was available, and the main cinemas are just across the road from the mall.

Since I haven't had the opportunity to start putting books up onto bookshelves, I've been filling in time by playing games on the Xbox. Mostly "The Last Remnant" - I've discovered if I sit a bit closer to the screen, I can make out enough of the text to get a reasonably good idea of what the words are. So I've restarted playing through (I'm up to the first runthrough in the Catacombs, but I'm busy doing a stroll through all the other areas I've opened up first... have I mentioned I over-grind something 'orrible? Battle level 60, and counting) and I'm doing my usual note-taking and such (I'm now up to about a dozen different pieces of paper, each covering different things). It's a good game to be fiddling about with - nice bishounen heroes, easy battle system, standard Squeenix battle frequency (walk walk attack), and it keeps my brain busy enough to get through the hottest hours of the day.

    Oh. My. Gods.
Guys, guys, knitting two socks at a time on one circular needle is the most awesome thing ever! I must have MOAR SOCK YARN and MOAR SOCK BOOKS!

Edit: It shouldn't be any harder to convert instructions on two circular needles to two on one, than it is to convert instructions for DPNs to one circular, right? I mean, it's still a matter of dividing up the front/top and back/bottom stitches into groups. I ask because I'm considering going back to my copy of Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles (the book that nearly made me swear off socks) and knitting the kitty socks.

Bless me, flist, for I have been neglectful; it's been over a month since my last update.

Ahaha. Anyway, not too much new to say. Work is still work, the library is still my favorite, but since it's the end of the semester I haven't really been able to squeeze in anything for my professor. This week coming up is my last set of classes; have to finish final projects for Metadata and Digital Libraries. Already done with Collection Development, and honestly I'm not too optimistic about my grade there since I had so much trouble getting something decent for that last paper... but I did get two As and a B on my other three papers in there, so we'll see.

Ah, December: the time of much stuff going on. Thursday the 3rd was Shannon's choir concert up at my dear ol' alma mater; the campus looks so weird with that new art building in the middle of what used to be the commuter parking lot (and all those huge colored globes sitting around the grassy area behind Loser). Dad's blood drive for the Knights of Columbus was yesterday, so I gave blood for the first time -- and a double red cell donation, too. It wasn't too bad, actually, just a little uncomfortable, especially during the returning part of the procedure when parts of one's body get very cold. Apparently it's a different part for everyone else -- Dad said somebody was laughing about the top of their head -- but... :/

Anyway. Dad's choir concert is this afternoon, and [info]bard_linn and her mom are coming. Friday is the biannual hibachi dinner with folks from undergrad, I'm working Christmas morning, picking up some Saturday hours at the library on Boxing Day... busy busy. Think I'm gonna talk to the managers at work about not picking up any extra hours with Olesya once the semester lets out because really, I like my schedule just the way it is (and two shifts at different jobs three days a week is just fine, thanks... and I honestly prefer the store I'm at now with Adrian and Jose, anyway). On the other hand, if Adrian can't give me extra hours when next semester starts up, I'll have to pick up at least one day a week with Olesya -- and during the period they're closing for renovations, I do need to be working...

Well. Denise says I should be fine switching my library hours from Wednesday, when I'll have class next semester, to Monday, which is apparently a busy night for them. The only problem is setting things up so that I can get a Monday morning shift and be out of there by three at the latest -- my typical Monday shift with Olesya was 11 am to 7 pm for most of this year and she's always got mornings covered, and Carla is reluctant to switch her Monday opener with my Wednesday because she hates working with Juan, who's a perv... We'll see, I guess.

...unrelated, but man I hate Christmas shopping. I've got very few ideas for the people I haven't bought for yet, three people out of five to nine covered, and two of those presents will benefit me in some way -- one I'll certainly borrow from the recipient to read when she's done, and the other, well, I paid for my sister's ticket to go see Muse in Madison Square Garden in March (!!!), and of course I bought one for myself too. And don't even talk to me about wrapping things -- I'm not only selfish, I'm lazy too.

Anyway. I've got to start getting ready for work. Happy whatever December holiday(s) y'all celebrate, if any, and if I don't post again before then have a great New Year's, too! ♥

    zombie iz aliiiiiiive ...kinda
yep, I'm alive! Woot! I've been asleep for most of the past 24 hours and drugged to the gills the rest of the time (you don't want to know how long it's taken me to type this without typos, srsly, even my FINGERS feel drugged).

Thank you a ton for all the 'hey you better stay alive'-type comments! (echoed by my cat, who keeps walking over to sniff my face and make sure I haven't become dinner yet.) I'm going to try to be coherent enough to reply later?

The docs ended up doing more than they'd originally planned, so I'm not sure how long I'm going to need to stay on the drugs, but 'alive and fumbling toward coherent' is always good in my book. :)

No one said New Moon was going to have half naked boys and giant CGI wolves! I was only expecting the wolves! (Actually, I was not expecting any Twilight-related werewolf to be half that cool.)

So, where can I get the edit that is all half naked boys and CGI wolves, all the time?

The Pahrump-A-Pum-Pum Festival was absolutely dead. I was there for four hours freezing my ass off in the booth (shared by the store and two friends of Boss #1), and I was never, ever so glad to go back to the store as I was this afternoon. Tomorrow they're predicting rain; I hope I don't have to go back. *cries*

But Knit Picks has their sweater kits half off right now, which means 15 balls of Wool of the Andes (7 of one color, 8 of another, colors vary depending on which kit you get) for $14.99. I cannot resist yarn for $1/ball. Plus, free sweater pattern if I ever decide I do want to make a sweater!

    Unexpected good news!!!
    I graduate this Spring!

I talked to my counselor three months ago and she said I needed 14 more credits. I talked to her today, and she said I needed 5 and I'm already signed up for six for the Spring term.

I filled out my graduation application.

I'm turning it in after my final presentation today.

    I'll walk in June.

    Title: Sidetracked
    Author: faicinn_rocais
    Rating: M...very M
Warnings: sex, kissing, foreplay...think that's it.
    Word count: 583
Prompt:- Final Fantasy VII, Reno/Cloud: sex in an abandoned building - It left a sour taste in his mouth
Summary: After a mission to an industrial city for pest control(read: drug dealer's getting a little too comfortable) on Reno's part, and a large delivery and monster extermination on Cloud's, they, amazingly enough, run into each other. With one high on adrenaline and the other with a slight case of fighter's high, nothing good can come of their meeting...or can it?
A/N: Procrastinating. Oh, and there's some explicit sexual encounters in here; if the prompt didn't already give that away.
